LEGAL EDUCATION

Legal Education

At the heart of the LCK Freedom Foundation is a simple belief: when people understand their rights, they are better equipped to protect their freedom, demand accountability, and participate fully in shaping their country.

Our legal education work is designed to meet people where they are, whether in a classroom, a newsroom, online, or in their community, so that constitutional knowledge becomes accessible, practical, and empowering.

Know Your Rights

Far too often, the law feels out of reach, full of technical language and hidden meaning. We want to change that.

Our Know Your Rights resources explain key protections in clear, everyday language so that anyone can understand what the Constitution guarantees. These guides cover real situations that people experience daily, including:

  • What to do if you are arrested or detained
  • Your freedoms of expression, assembly, and association
  • How to protect your digital privacy in an era of surveillance
  • Your rights to due process and fair treatment under the law

These are practical tools designed to help citizens navigate challenges with confidence and clarity. Our goal is simple: no one should feel helpless in the face of power.

Community trainings

We bring legal knowledge directly to the people who need it most.

Through partnerships with universities, media organisations, civil society groups, and community leaders, we run trainings and workshops that spark dialogue, deepen understanding, and strengthen civic engagement.

Whether we are speaking with journalism students refining their investigative skills, young activists learning how to engage safely, or community groups navigating public participation, our sessions are tailored to each audience.

If you would like the LCK Freedom Foundation to host a training in your newsroom, community, or campus, you can easily reach out through our contact page.

We are committed to taking this work to every corner of the country.

Student/Young Lawyer Program

Investing in tomorrow’s constitutional defenders

The future of public interest work depends on courageous, principled young people who are ready to defend justice. That is why we are building a pipeline for the next generation of legal leaders.

In the coming phases of our work, we will launch opportunities such as:

  • Internships and fellowships in public interest law
  • Moot court collaborations with law schools
  • Mentorship programmes for aspiring constitutional and human rights lawyers

Our vision is to nurture young advocates who are passionate about strengthening democracy and expanding justice for all.

Because when we invest in young lawyers today, we build a stronger, more just Zambia
