Democracy is always potentially under threat everywhere. The role of civil society is to act as a watchdog and to stem the tide of democratic backsliding. As always, the work is plenty, but the labourers are few. LCK Freedom Foundation (LCKFF) was created in recognition of the fact that there is a great need for more hands in the public and strategic interest litigation and to ensure that we raise generations that are prepared to continue that fight.

Context: Democratic backsliding, unlawful detention, shrinking civic space, etc.

Legal structure: A non-profit organisation sustained through grants, partnerships, and philanthropy.
