LITIGATION
Strategic Litigation
At the LCK Freedom Foundation, we believe that one powerful case can change the future for millions. That is the heart of strategic litigation. It is not simply about representing a client in court; it is about choosing matters that can shift laws, strengthen rights, and open doors for people across the country.
Every case we take on must tell a bigger story. It must speak to the kind of Zambia we want to build, one where constitutional rights are real, lived, and protected.
We look at each case through three guiding questions:
1. Does it raise a constitutional issue?
We focus on matters that test the boundaries of our rights and freedoms, where the Constitution must be clarified, defended, or strengthened.
2. Will it make a meaningful difference to the public?
Strategic litigation must go beyond the individual. We take on cases that have the potential to improve systems, safeguard civic space, or expand justice for many, not just one person.
3. Could this case set a new precedent?
We pursue litigation that can shape the law for years to come, creating new protections or reinforcing existing ones so that future generations inherit a stronger legal framework.
It is important to note that the LCK Freedom Foundation is not a general legal aid clinic. Our focus is firmly on constitutional and public interest matters, cases that speak to the health of our democracy and the rights we all depend on.
Strategic litigation is both a legal tool and a form of storytelling. Through the cases we select, we aim to tell a story of courage, accountability, and hope, a story of a nation still becoming, and citizens determined to shape its future.
